Spam and Viruses

I think that some days people would not believe the numbers that are related to SPAM and Viruses if we were to tell them. Our Barracuda Service that we use on our own and our clients hosted email has stopped nearly 156 million spams in it's service lifetime. That is an INSANE amount of nuisance emails. To be more specific, yesterday the device stopped 106,000 spam email and 768 viruses that were attached to email. If you aren't a believer, you will be.

Is Cloud Computing really the long term low cost?

Last week on my way to Disney World on vacation I was able to catch up on some of my "geek reading". The June/July edition of the Harvard Business Review had some things to say about Cloud Computing and the data now on hand coming out about the real costs of Cloud Computing. It might not be the "real cost saver" that everyone projected..

It is with great pride that I can formally announce that the owners of Voltaic, Inc and Hensley, Elam & Associates have completed an acquistion process bringing the Voltaic name, services and clients into the services of Hensley, Elam & Associates. Notices from both firms announcing the transition are arriving in the mail today to the Voltaic clients informing them of this transition.


Voltaic has been one of our fiercest competitors as well as a good neighbor for nine years. We were located one floor down from them for seven years at 167 West Main Steet in Lexington. I think it is because of our synergy and past relationships dealing with each other often daily that we both know this transition is a GOOD thing for Voltaic clients. Voltaic like HEA has clients locally and nationally in many service markets with a strong reputation and commitment from the ownership.


As part of the transition, HEA will be gaining a complete Ubuntu based web hosting services environment that will compliment our current Microsoft Windows based private cloud that we have built with Level3 Communications. There will be no service interruptions for current clients or the Voltaic clients.
